As Calmly As I Can...

I'm going to try and say this as calmly as I can.

THIS BAILOUT IS A GIGANTIC MISTAKE AND NO WAY, NO HOW SHOULD THEY PUSH IT THROUGH WE WILL BE SCREWED FOR DECADES...

I don't think I can say much more. It makes my stomach hurt. There are clauses for money for executives- little golden parachutes provided by the taxpayers for those pigs who made millions already.

When the Bush government says, "Trust me, and hurry up?"

It's time to grind to a halt and read every single word.

There is no basis in history for this kind of effort. We don't run into it screaming as if our pants are on fire.

We did with the Patriot Act and look what that got us.

You don't trust Hank? I mean, he's been telling us for months that the financial crisis is "contained." Just because he used to work for Goldmann Sachs? Just because they want a blank check and no oversight, "by any legislative body or court?" You don't trust that?

Me either. It's like a kid who wants me to just sign a form quick, don't read it, and oh I need a check, just sign that too. I don't think so.

No way will I support the Authorization for Use of Financial Force (after the Authorization for Use of Military Force, the bill that gave the Bush administration the green light and blank check to invade Iraq).

And don't get me started on how we can afford this, but not healthcare, or same-sex benefits.

I agree with you 100%. Rachel Maddow just did a piece on this being like asking a 7 year-old to watch over your 6 year-old and his mother lode of candy. When you get home, the 6 yr old has eaten it all, and the 7 yr old says "You need more candy."

Companies always want to have deregulation UNTIL they need help from the government, and then we end up paying for their stupidity!

Quote of the Day

"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself."

-- The 2008 Republican Party Platform, adopted earlier this month.
