Election Madness

I listened to NPR this morning- bad way to start a day. I cannot believe anyone would vote for John McCain. I cannot believe there is a chance that he can be elected. I tried to be soothed by Totenberg's review of the election numbers and her clear statement that there is no possible way McCain can win.

Oh, but he can, Nina.

In a county in Maryland, there were absentee ballots sent out with a typo. Instead of Barack Obama, the name was listed Barack Osama.

Typo, the folks claimed.

Yuh. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

The Brandenburg concertos are playing now. My favorite all time piece of music.

Calm.

Yuh.

Will McCain steal this election? How many elections have to be stolen before we take to the streets?

Juts one small correction, Sara -- the absentee ballots with "Osama" were in New York, not in Maryland.

GTF outta here!

I hadn't heard that!

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You should see the video clips of McCain supporters saying Obama should die and he's a commie faggot.

And those are our moral police.

It'd be laughable if it weren't so humiliating.

i think it's going to eventually come to rioting in the streets.

If the electoral doesn't mirror the popular vote this year, I wouldn't be surprised with any resulting fallout. Therefore, Bush could order the nation into a military state and become dictator. Of course, Cheney would then shoot Bush for the title.

I've been out of the loop for a few days...the kid's been sick.

I had no idea that there had been ballots in any state that said that. Can't say I'm surprised though. This whole time I fully expected something like that to happen.

And the Brandenburg Suite is my favorite too. Number 3, first movement is my "go to" music. It's fun to play (violin) and fun to listen to. We even named our German Shepherd "Brandenburg". We call him Rand.

Take to the streets now. Flood the f'in' polls! The Republicans absolutely will jigger voting machines, steal votes, and try to keep "the wrong sort" from voting. Turn out in such numbers that they can't steal that many votes.

That's going to be my "Cathago delenda est" until November 4. Flood the f'in' polls!

I totally love something a reporter said on Rachel Maddow's show the other day: the crowds at McCain/Palin rallies will always be loud. That's what wingnuts do: go to rallies.

A mot juste I'd never heard before from that same interview: pitchfork wavers.

Really sorry about your kid, Christy.

Sara, we can't make you feel happier or less worried, but maybe we can make you feel a little bitty bit more loved. Because... well, you know.

If they steal this one, too, I think people finally will take to the streets. At least, I hope so.

Thanks Rev Bob. It was just a little cold. She's fine.

I have to admit, Morgan's scenario scares the hell out of me.

I don't want this to hijack this into a "what if" comment thread, but what if McCain does win? I really think that there will be some really angry people that may not handle their emotions well. What will happen if riots break out as a result?

let's take it to the streets...

i swear to God if you lead the rally I'll fly there...

besides....what are we waiting for?

...this would be the third election that the votes were stolen..

fool me once, shame on you

fool me twice, shame on me...

fool me three times, wtf?

let's do something!

does anyone know of a rally we can join, or should we just fuckin start our own... I'm ready.. let's go.

I like what Bob says. Do EVERYTHING in your power now to flood the polls. Rally NOW to make sure that everyone eligible to vote gets there and cast their voice. We have spent the last eight years wasting our votes on a third party or thinking (surely) it is in the bag. The past has proven that the time to act is now!

I agree, Morgan, and I think that's why the Republicans have suddenly turned their ire toward ACORN. And that just kills me -- a group like ACORN who in other years wasn't worth a mention by the right-wing crowd is now Topic A in their complaints about Obama.

They're scared they're gonna lose control -- finally!

Blogger Sara said...

Whoa nelly... I was driving all day and come back to this!

Yes, rally now. No, I don't know where. let me do some research. But Morgan is not alone in thinking that this could become a reason to declare martial law.

we should be very afraid.

sorry, sue- allan, walter and I were listening together and I missed the name of the county- allan said it was in maryland. I should have looked it up but I was working with minimal connection speed.

and bob, I do feel loved. thank you.

No problem, Sara. Just have to stand up for my state of residence, you know?

Does anyone know about ACORN?

I'd say the dems are doing their own trickery on stuffing the ballots....

Come on people, lets stop throwing stones and stick to reality. None of you guys are going to storm the streets in protest.

Sounds like you guys aren't really sure of the polling numbers either. Just wait and see. Let the process take its course.

Dare you to check in with me...

I'm finding a protest as we speak, and I WILL be in the streets because enough is enough. Is anyone with me?

I'm with you AJ. Anonymous, I've "stormed the streets in protest" many times in the past, and will continue to attend until we oust the Republicans from power.

None of you answered ACORN... I guess you can win if you let one person sign up to vote 78 times too! Don't start throwing stones at messing up Obama's name on a ballot until you are squeaky clean on signing up voters. Or did we all get ciggies and money for signing up and clogging the system with fictitious names?

okie dokie, I'll look into the ACORN accusations. They were accused in the last election, too.

I simply do not believe they have the same scale as the RNC but... I'll look.

Anon- The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has been registering voters for approximately 38 years. There is plenty on the net about their organization if you care to look. NPR actually had a piece on them just this morning due to the present flap by the GOP. ACORN works for social change issues affecting low and middle class families and targets those individuals to get involved in the political process by first having their voices be heard through voting. ACORN has been a target several times in past elections over the same controversies. It is interesting with this election that this comes up due to McCain's ties to ACORN. In fact, in the past few years, McCain made a speech at an ACORN function lauding their works and involvement. I guess Palin has changed his mind on those "community organizations" now.

Anon - One other thing. Your posts come across as an agitator in the ranks, not intellectually thought out. The individual posting this blog and the commentors to it, including yourself, expect and deserve more.

ACORN held a press conference yesterday, televised on C-SPAN, that discussed the charges being hurled against them by the desperate supporters of the Republican Party -- and an explanation of why the charges have no merit.

You can see video of the press conference here
