Sarah Palin, Meet Tom Eagleton

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. You should have known better. Did you really think it was going to take more than 48 hours for people to dig around a bit and find out that it's not your son, it's your grandson?

I'm going to bet you withdraw in... 24 hours.

Why? Because some pretty damning photos and information have been surfaced. Daily Kos and Alternet and both showing some pretty interesting family photos.

You know the ones, where your daughter looks pregnant but you do not?

Now, Sarah, before you start on with how much you run and how fit you are, I know what it's like to be pregnant more than once. Muscles stretch. And when you're 44 years old, on your FIFTH pregnancy, you show.

I don't care who you are or how much moose burger you eat. You show.

The story of flying 8 months pregnant, water breaking and you flying back to your own home town, well, that seemed a bit much but... pregnant women can be a little psycho at times.

My wife was a nutcase while she was pregnant. Not me, of course.

24 hours. Maybe 48. But there is no way this story isn't going to blow up just like Tom Eagleton's shock treatment sent him home.

It's a shame, you know. You could have talked about teen pregnancy, how to deal with your faith, love your children, and make it work without the lies. I think a lot of people would have respected you for it.

Instead, you'll be the butt of a lot of tasteless jokes for years to come.

Wooo hooo! Let's see, how does that argument go? Obama doesn't have enough experience to be in charge of that 3 a.m. phone call?

Wow!

Bye, bye, Sarah! See ya in the next life!

Whoever the mother is, Ms. Palin as claimed the child as her own. But- who is raising him? It would not appear that Sarah is. When my babies were four months old, I was still in the bleary, breastfeeding, have-I-brushed-my-teeth-yet-today phase of motherhood.
This is all just so weird.

You guys are amazing. Jumping on the bandwagon and accusing a woman of not only faking her pregnancy, but now not being able to serve our country while having young children! And you are all for women's rights.... of course you are only for them when it suits your own views... give the woman a chance. And even if it were true about her daughter and the child, who cares? It is a private issue and should stay that way. Talk about her views on issues, but give her a chance to speak before burning her to the stake... how primitive you sound...

anonymous... fair enough.

you know, I took a long hard look at my own bias around this issue. on one hand, I not only don't care about how Palin chose to have her child, I think it's wrong to poke into it. it's privacy and to hear people discuss leaking amniotic fluid (which, by the way, can come out in a tiny little trickle), I was horrified. we don't talk about John McCain's penis and whether or not it can get erect, we don't don't about men's bodies, why are we talking about a woman's body?

we should know better. the women's movement declared our bodies off limits to public decision making.

On the other hand, to think she 'covered up' her daughter's teen pregnancy felt incredibly hypocritical. Like closeted gay republican politicians that fight hard against gay rights, to have someone fight against reproductive freedom (which INCLUDES birth control) be lying about her daughter's pregnancy for any reason- well, the moment was ripe to uncover the lies.

Stepping back... I have to wonder... do I want Obama to be under this kind of scrutiny? Do I want Michelle Obama to go through this kind of public undressing? will we start to comparing birth stories and decide who did it in a more responsible way?

this is starting to feel like a slippery slope. it's the kind of morality argument that is used against the LGBT community all the time.

duly noted, anon. duly noted.
