The Oscars

The wife and I are watching the Oscars. Jeanine has spent years in the business and I while I'm only interested in the gowns, she cares about the awards.

I have noticed a disturbing trend tonight. All awards are going to non-english speakers.

ah HA. That's how they are keeping the speeches short.

That's all. It's not a debate after all.

YEAH!! A shout out for the rights of same-sex couples! But an otherwise boring evening overall.

The documentary Freeheld won an Oscar.

The 38-minute documentary chronicles the experiences of an Ocean County prosecutor’s investigator, Detective Lt. Laurel Hester, who died of lung cancer in February 2006 at 49. She fought her illness while battling the Ocean County freeholders for benefits for her partner, Stacie Andree.

Ms. Andree and the filmmaker, Cynthia Wade, were attending the Oscar ceremony in Hollywood.

Cynthia Wade gave a shout out to same sex couples in her acceptance speech. She won Freeheld.

Cynthia is the real deal - a wonderful person and filmaker.

I have some links and her story, clips on my blog.
