they are tulips, bob. I came across them on top of a stone table in our back yard. I have no idea who plucked them and put them there. I just loved the colors.

Seriously, I knew they were tulips (or something). Wild onions were a separate subject. Shouldn't they be up in some vacant lots around now? But those colors! I wouldn't have used those colors for anything in a million years, and they're gorgeous! And the almost melted textures.
