Frog's Legs

I am a mean mother. I make my kids go to nice restaurants, learn which fork to use, to put their napkins in their laps and god help me, put butter on the butter plate, not right on the roll.

I believe in manners.

And trying new food. I don't care if you eat it all, just try it. Tonight? Zachary did. With his Garlic Cream Soup he was served Frogs Legs. Fried, to dip in the soup.

He did.

He loved it.

I can die now, a very very proud mother.

Too bad those frogs had to die, too. Poor bastards.

wow! I draw the line at frog's legs and squid. My mind just can't do it. Just can't...

Re hotels: I don't really mind. There are taxis to get us from point to point B (no subway due to SO's claustrophobia. She also asks if your partner knows her aunt, Suzanne Dean, also at Berklee?).

Bravo, Zachary! And bravo Sara and Jeanine. How long did you have to run him through the car wash to clean him up like that? He looks downright reputable.

Contra and Lula, If God hadn't meant frogs to be eaten, she'd have made them taste like grits.

Who is that child in the picture? He doesn't look like any of the other photos you've ever posted -- I think you rented a kid for the photo op!

Still, one quick question to see if you're done civilizing him. When he puts his napkin in his lap, does he do it with such a flourish that you expect to see a dove appear?

Besides, frogs totally deserve it. Did you ever catch a frog that didn't pee on you?

I prefer frogs to a lot of human beings, unfortunately. And, besides, a plant-based diet is much better for the environment. I refer to the U.N. Agricultural Report - the meat industry emits more man-made greenhouse gasses than ALL FORMS OF TRANSPORT COMBINED!! Not that Al Gore will ever tell you that, of course.

okay, okay, will... you are right. a plant based diet is better for you and better for the planet. I cannot argue that.

frog legs. sorry, not frogs legs. double plural. no no no. this is what happens when you write at 11:30pm.

um... napkins on laps are still a serious issue. but we're working on it.

oh, sue, if you saw him five minutes before walking in...
