God Files a Prop 8 Amicus Brief

Isn't part of religion having some humility? You know, all that bowing heads and stuff?

What's up with this group, The Kingdom of Heaven, World Divine Mission? They have filed an amicus brief on behalf of God.

Not Jesus. Or some Saint. God himself.

Because Mariette Do-Nguyen, head chick in charge of the Divine mission, is the "Heiress of the Almighty Eternal Creator."

Alrighty then. Let's just call it a day. God has spoken.

Amazing assumptions of their part. In my personal battle of believing in Christianity or not, this brief does not help their cause with me. I have always thought God is Love. I can not see that emoted in any of the forty pages they presented in behalf of their Almighty Eternal Creator.

They've certainly outdone themselves this time.

Being born and raised Catholic has presented me with a lot of obstacles (putting it mildly).

To me - Its all in the personal interpretation - which leaves it wide open for chaos.

Its kind of like the Koran. There are the religious extremists that believe killing in the name of Allah is ok. But there are other people who interpret the Koran who are the most peaceful people EVER. (my ex-g/f was muslim - it was always interesting sitting around my dinner table at Thanksgiving.....lol)

Anyway, Its people who screw this up. Thinking that they have the RIGHT - (based on their own interpretations) - to speak out in areas they have no right speaking out in! Who can speak for God? They make themselves look stupid and ridiculous.

I am not a "holy roller". I dont go to Church real often. But I believe in God. I also believe that God is loving, accepting and has created ALL of us exactly the way we are supposed to be. Maybe Im naive. But thats how I handle religion. I dont get into the politics of it. Its purely spiritual for me.

In other news, eHarmony has settled a lawsuit that claimed they discriminated against gay and lesbian people who were looking for matches with other gay and lesbian people.

Visitors to Blogville (except for readers who only click on The Corner and OneNewsNow) have known for a couple of years that eHarmony was straights-only. If they'd advertised that, they might have caused some cognitive dissonance among people who are fully invested in the narrative that straight == normal.

The settlement is like an E7 chord with a G natural on top: a “soul” version of the chord that’s a tiny bit subversive to Suzy Creamcheese who’s only ever heard the dominant narrative.

If only all the arguments for Prop 8 were so easy to throw out, we wouldn't have to worry...
