CA Lost

With only 500K votes left to be counted in CA, we'd have to win 400K to win on Prop. 8.

I believe it's over. We lost.

I am relieved Obama won. At some point? I may even be excited. Right now, though, I am heartbroken.

Devastated.

I know...I'm joyful about the presidential election. It's tempered, though, by what we we lost in CA, FL, AZ, and AR. We took two steps backward in regard to queer rights. F@CK.

I agree 100%. I'm relieved Obama won but people cannot think that this is the end. There is more work to do. It is a bittersweet day.

I only hope that over the next four years, things will change. That under this new administration, hearts and minds will continue to open. A handful of years ago, a measure like Prop 8 would have been handily squashed, if even viable at all. Progress is slow, but it is progress nonetheless. It will happen. It will. It's just a matter of when.

Go, Lambda Legal!

The battle is back in the court.

Freedom is harder to kill than Superman and Wonder Woman and Dracula and Buffy combined. You need garlic, a stake, sunlight, a silver bullet, and kryptonite.

If you have a few antimatter crosses and anti-Books of Mormon, they might help the fight.

p.s., you taught your boys something they'll never forget.

thanks, everyone. I've had a long, hard day today. but I feel my energy coming back and I'll be ready for battle tomorrow.

all of your support means so much to me. especially the lurkers who finally came out and said something!

keep talking! it gets lonely on here.

and yes, bob, my boys learned something important.

that their mother is a political lunatic!

What really hurts is that Obama could have stopped 8. If he'd said "Vote NO on 8" it would have failed. But he didn't, either because he thought it was politically expedient, or because he really doesn't support equal marriage.

He could've afforded the risk, he won in a landslide.

And he said he doesn't support equal marriage.

I am very disappointed.

I said "taught."

Isn't it great that you can comort and inspire your kids and then they can comfort and inspire you?

i was holding out great hope that californians would get this right, but i guess that hate and bias is still running rampant everywhere. time to change that! thanks for all your help with this battle, and by setting a wonderful example for us all.
