Hate Crime Charges Filed
The Ventura county shooting has been declared a hate crime. The victim, Lawrence King, is brain dead. The charges will be filed once he is officially declared dead, as the family has decided to donate his organs.
King had been in the "foster care system and lived at Casa Pacifica, a nearby center for abused and neglected children."

I'm afraid that you are right.
I kept thinking about this story all evening. It really is a sad commentary on our society, and I think you're right -- it's going to get sadder and sadder the more we learn about the life of Lawrence King.
Another eighth-grader, Michael Sweeney, said King's appearance was "freaking the guys out," the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
this makes me irate!! how is one boy's attire so threatening to the others?? come on!!
Fear and intolerance are some pretty scary motives. I, too, believe this story will prove more sad as we learn more.
